How much does waste management software cost?

There is no single answer, because "waste management software" covers two very different things: the compliance tool that records waste transfer notes, and the enterprise platform that runs a whole operation. They sit at opposite ends of the price scale.

The compliance tool end: from £12 a month

If you only need to record waste transfer notes and submit them to the Digital Waste Tracking Service, you are looking at a compliance tool. For a small transfer station or skip yard, that is a lot of software to pay for when the legal requirement is just to record and submit waste movements.

The DEFRA fee on top

Whichever route you take, DEFRA charges £26 a year for each organisation on your account to use the Digital Waste Tracking Service. That is fixed, applies to everyone, and is separate from software.

For a single-site operator who just needs to be compliant: around £26 a year to DEFRA, plus £12 a month for software, with a free tier to test on first. For a multi-site enterprise operation: considerably more.
