Your carrier compliance, free in one place

From 22 July 2027, waste carriers in England move from registration to an environmental permit or a registered exemption, and every driver needs a number of their own. What the hub holds

• Permit or exemption. Your registration number, nation, tier and dates, with the conversion date and the apply-by date where they apply.
• Drivers. A unique number for each driver, never reused, kept on the register when they leave and exportable for the cab.
• Vehicles. Your fleet list, with MOT and document dates.
• Competence. Who holds a certificate, with the scheme and expiry date.
• Documents. Permit, certificates and insurance in one private store, opened only by your team.
• Inspection pack. One PDF with everything an officer or auditor asks for, generated when you need it.

The dates that matter

Date	What it means
22 July 2027	The permit regime begins in England. Most registrations convert on the day after their own expiry, so the change reaches each business at a different time, from July 2027 through to about 2030.
Three months and a day before your date	The last day an application still counts as early. Apply by then and your registration stays in force while the Environment Agency decides.
22 July 2028	The compliance date for specified persons, including charities and operators carrying only their own non-construction waste.
October 2027	Digital waste tracking is planned to reach carriers, brokers and dealers. The date is not yet in legislation.

Only England converts. Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland keep their own registration rules, and the hub records them in their own terms.

Free, and what comes later

The hub is free, including for carrier accounts created now. Paid carrier plans arrive with the movement duty in October 2027 and are built around submitting carrier waste transfer notes. They will be announced nearer the time, with a discount for accounts already using the hub. Nothing is charged today, and there is no card and no trial clock.

Already use LoadLog for a site? Open Settings, then Organisation. Under What do you want to manage?, choose Waste site and carrier and add the carrier side. Your plan, your sites and your existing records do not change. The getting started guide walks through it.
