Digital waste tracking for vehicle breakers
From 1 October 2026, vehicle breakers in England and Wales must report every end-of-life vehicle they receive to DEFRA. The same requirement reaches Scotland and Northern Ireland in January 2027. If your site is licensed or permitted to receive controlled waste, you are in scope.

Two records for every vehicle
When a car arrives as waste, two separate records kick in. The Certificate of Destruction goes to DVLA and deregisters the vehicle. The waste record goes to DEFRA and tracks the material. LoadLog is the second one.
An undepolluted vehicle is hazardous waste. Once it is depolluted, the shell is non-hazardous. LoadLog records the right EWC code for each, 16 01 04* or 16 01 06, so the record is right every time.
