Duty of care

The legal duty on anyone who produces, carries, keeps, treats or disposes of controlled waste to make sure it is handled safely and lawfully. It comes from section 34 of the Environmental Protection Act 1990, and it follows the waste from the moment it is produced to its final disposal.
