Waste hierarchy
The priority order for managing waste: prevent it, reuse it, recycle it, recover energy from it, and dispose of it as a last resort. It is set out in regulation 12 of the Waste (England and Wales) Regulations 2011, and a waste transfer note must confirm that the transferor has discharged that duty.
